The Amazon Firestick is the easiest cheap upgrade for an older TV in South Africa. Plug it into an HDMI port, connect it to Wi-Fi and you have a modern streaming device. Step 1 — Enable Unknown Sources
From the Firestick home screen, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options. If you don't see Developer options, go to Settings → My Fire TV → About and click the 'Fire TV Stick' name seven times until it says 'You are now a developer'. Back in Developer options, enable 'Apps from Unknown Sources'.
Step 2 — Install Downloader
From the Firestick home screen, search for 'Downloader' (the orange rocket icon by AFTVnews). Install it from the Amazon Appstore. This is a free, safe app used by millions of Firestick owners.
Step 3 — Enter the ElephTV APK URL
Ready to watch? Try the app free for 4 days, then buy your activation code on elephtv.store from R120/month — it is auto-dispatched to WhatsApp or email after payment.
Open Downloader. In the URL bar, type the APK link from your delivery email exactly as shown. Press Go. Downloader fetches the file (typically usually under two minutes on fibre) then asks if you want to install — say Install, then Done. Delete the APK when prompted to save space.
Step 4 — Open ElephTV and enter your code

Common Firestick problems
"App not installed" error
Almost always means the APK didn't download completely — Wi-Fi cut mid-download. Delete the partial file, restart the Firestick (Settings → My Fire TV → Restart) and try again.
Buffering on a 4K Firestick
Firestick 4K needs a strong 5GHz Wi-Fi signal. If your router is behind the TV or in another room, the Firestick struggles. Move the router closer, use a Wi-Fi extender, or switch to a wired-Ethernet adapter (Amazon sells one for about R400).
